Edna was known by me for many years as Aunt Edna, even though she always treated me as a daughter. My cherished memories of Edna start with my sisterhood with her daughter, Lisa. Lisa and I became immediate friends, then sisters, due to the fact neither of us had been blessed with one. We stepped into those rolls easily as Enda then became my “another” mother. Holding my wedding at Matt & Edna’s beachside clubhouse meant the whole world to Ted & I in 1988! I love holding those cherished memories that will be with me forever . . .
“Death scares us. And because it scares us, we avoid thinking about it, Yet in a bizarre way, death is the light by which the shadow of all of life’s meaning is measured.” Mark Manson
Thank you, Edna, for the opportunity to remember our joyous times together! Family was very important to her and she made all who were around her feel included. There were many times of celebration, but my favorite were the Halloweens in Scotts Valley at their Vista del Lago home for my son’s first trick or treats. Matt was always celebrating early and Edna offering food before Phil or Lisa with Katie and Emmy, Ted and I with Andrew started around the neighborhood collecting sugary loot with their kid’s adorability.
Dearest Auntie, you will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. I honestly believe that we will remember people by how they made us feel and Edna quietly served a greater purpose for many.
