Dave, Vicky and I are so sorry to learn of your loss. Michele was definitely a free spirit and that will be missed. I can recall fondly all the good times we had playing poker and how much fun Michele would have when she thought (sometimes correctly) that she had cards that allowed her to go both "high and low" ("Chick-a-boom"). Vicky and I hope you are doing well (not sure where you are living at the moment) but if you are in the Pleasanton area, let me know. We'll have a drink or two in Michele's honor. Michael

I was so surprised to read about Michele on Sunday! I met her during an improv class through Next Stage a couple of summers ago and then many times around town, walking at Seacliff, and through events at UCSC Lifelong Learner. She was always smiling and full of humor, fun, energy, and friendliness. I will always remember Michele for those qualities and being so full of life. My deepest condolences to David and to Michele's family and friends.

Starting with the very unique spelling of her name, it was clear that Michele was a cut apart........in the most delightful way. She was one of a kind.
What can you say about a gal who could take a full two minutes to order a just-so cocktail, yet have the waiter, and her dinner companions, smiling and laughing through the whole spectacle. Later, the same waiter would be seen running to the parking lot to thank the Culvers for his world-record three-digit tip. Yes, Michele was a generous soul, who worked hard, and played harder. An evening with the Culvers was a treat to be savored.
What can you say about a lady who was a total extrovert and social magnet......a gracious hostess who played a mean game of "no fold-em Hold-em," yet somehow could leave her stunned opponents smiling and laughing after she spiked a "two-outer," and raked in the biggest pot of the night. She was one smart cookie and a fearsome competitor across the Scrabble board.
What can you say about a comedienne whose seamless soliloquy would launch as an Irish cop in perfect brogue, then suddenly switch to a Scottish innkeeper in perfect dialect, and finish as an East Indian cab driver more convincing than if you were on the streets of Manhattan. Talent, and wit to burn.
What can you say about this special lady? We were so lucky to have her, and we will so desperately miss her. May our tears and sighs.....with time.....become smiles and precious memories..... that we were so blessed to have Michele pass through our lives, and remain in our hearts.......forever.

I have such fond memories of Michele, first years ago, when we started playing poker with a group of friends. Michele's sense of humor and fun-loving attitude made it feel like we were playing cards in Vegas - she missed another calling as a poker dealer. Michele loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Many of us looked forward to Dave and Michele's return to Santa Cruz, after they moved for job opportunities, for their much-deserved retirement as they looked forward to enjoying their chosen home of Aptos. My heart goes out to Dave and Michele's family.
With Love,
Maggie Ivy

I’ll never forget my moments with Michelle. She helped me get through some rough times. She always made me laugh. Shared a brisket recipe with me. Whenever I asked her how she was, her response was always “living the dream” she is a true gem whom I shall miss very much.

Dear Dave,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I feel so lucky to have met you and Michelle a few years ago through Arnie and Carol. I treasure the times we had together during our local dining ventures and more. Michelle was a one of a kind person with such a wonderful heart and vibrant personality. It was clear she treasured you and her many special friends and family members.
I miss seeing Michelle every time I go on a walk in Rio Del Mar and no longer run into her to say hi. I will never forget Michelle - she was such an amazing woman who knew how to relish every minute of her life.
Thinking of you,
Nancy

Our hearts are breaking for you, Dave. Michele was amazing in so many ways. We feel so very fortunate to have shared some great moments with the two of you over the past twenty years. We will always love and remember the sound of her laugh, her spontaneously breaking in to show tunes and even her clever way of getting a conversation to head her direction, with her famous "O.K., back to me, back to me". We will miss her terribly, but we look forward to spending time with you and keeping our memories of Michele as fresh, funny and interesting as ever. With love, Ron and Jane

Dave: Michelle always said she had gotten the last of the “good” guys. She told me often how much she loved you. I am so so saddened with her passing and share your grief. Michelle was my chosen sister, best friend and confidant. She was a beautiful person inside and out. We were “Best Friends Forever”, which feels like a short period of time now. I miss her so very much. Thank you for being there for her day in and out.

Our dear friend Michele, brought laughter, cheer, and happiness to everyone she met. Her eyes sparkled liked diamonds and her smile could warm a cold room.
Over the years we have had many varied experiences in cruising, traveling and exploring new frontiers.
She always studied where we were going. We even had some wonderful experiences after she and Dave moved to Aptos: sailing on the Chardonnay II was a delight, we loved to take food tours in Carmel and Santa Cruz.and we loved to go to the outdoor Shakespeare plays.
Michele was a closet movie critic. We loved to compare notes on the latest movies. Michele and Dave had many Super Bowl parties over the years and we usually did not care who won, because we loved the party so much.
Joyce loved to cook for her and her favorite request was always rack of lamb. Michele loved, as we do morning beach walks. We could not keep up with her pace, so we had to lack behind with Dave.
Michele will always been in our memories and we will always cherish her and our time together.

Dearest Dave,
I am so heartbroken and stunned with disbelief. I can not imagine the pain you are experiencing but I want you to know I am thinking of you and wish there was a way to ease your grief.
I wish so much! I wish I had followed through after silence from a recent text I sent that I know she would have responded to with glee!!! I had a lot to tell her... I missed her before and now knowing I missed out forever is just the saddest thing in my world today. I'm so sorry.
If I could …I would,
Warmest of regards to you and her family.
Love you Michele!!!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our neighbor, Michelle Culver. It was fun getting to know Michelle and Dave because of their happy, positive attitude about life. Michelle, especially seemed always to be full of joy. From our house, 2 doors down, we could hear her happily singing as she planted her spring flowers; a collection of perennials as bright in color as Michelle was in her personality. We daily enjoyed seeing Michelle and Dave walking their doggies, Kirby and Cooper ... their happy conversation making evident, the love they had for each other. Our prayers are with Dave and family in their grief.

My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Dave, family, and friends. As Michele's older sister, I may or may not have known her the best, but I certainly knew her the longest. As a kid, she sometimes could be annoying, and as the baby of the family, she would ALWAYS get the most attention. As an adult, Michele was beautiful inside and out, kind, intelligent, funny, witty, generous, curious about the world around her, active, and energetic. She could light up a room like no one else I knew. I looked up to her, and often asked for, and valued, her advice. When I visited her, in what would be her last days, I would say, "I love you" as often as I could. Michele always replied, "I love you more." I will never forget that. We shared good times and bad times, both as children and as adults, but I always knew she had my back, and I sincerely hope she felt the same way.
I will miss her dearly, but will always remember that she was a ray of sunshine, an inspiration. Daddy and Mom, she's yours now; please take care of her, as she always took care of me.
Michele, you will always be my "baby sister."
