Obituary of Joseph Ernest Telles Sr.

Joseph Ernest Telles Sr., 89, passed away on September 11, 2023 in Santa Cruz, California. Joseph was born to Abran and Lupe Telles on April 18, 1934. Joseph was a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised in Santa Cruz, California. He attended Bayview Elementary, Mission Hill Middle School, and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1952.

Joseph worked as a truck driver for Meadow Gold and Albertson’s and was a Teamster Union Member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and antique car shows. He was well-known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Joseph is survived by his sons Joseph E. Telles II, Paul W. Telles, and Patrick S. Telles. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 11 nieces, and 6 nephews. He is preceded in death by brother Dale Telles and his sisters Rose Arana and Marcella Ruelas.

A Celebration of Life will take place at DeLaveaga Park, Forty Thieves Picnic Area on Friday, September 22nd from 1pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Santa Cruz Meals on Wheels, 519 Main St, Watsonville, CA 95076.
