Obituary of Karen Cooper

 

April 27, 1952 – September 4, 2023

Longtime resident of Santa Cruz

 

Private family services were held for Karen Cooper, who passed away at Dominican Hospital  following a courageous battle she fought with a brain tumor. She was 71 years old.  

 

Karen was born in Alaska and moved to the Santa Cruz area, where she attended Holy Cross High School, Mission Hill Jr. High, and Bayview Elementary School, and lived most of her life in  Santa Cruz, where she married Joseph Fennimore Cooper in November 1976. He preceded her in death in 2017.

 

Karen was blessed with the talent to Sing and make art. She was particularly fond of poetry. Karen was a compassionate lover of all animals.

 

Karen leaves her daughter, Vivian Toler; her siblings, Tami Barrille, Sue Matteucci, Jodi Fox, Gerald “Jerry” Logan, and Jeff Garday.  

 

Her Husband, Joseph Cooper, her son, Thomas Cooper, her brother, Tracy Garday, and her parents, Gerald D. Logan and Vivian A. Logan, preceded her in death.

 

Her family previously gathered at the Felton Covered Bridge for a private service. 

 

A kind act of charity can be made in her name to the Santa Cruz SPCA.
