Jeanne Barilati

Obituary of Jeanne Barilati

Private family services will be held for Jeanne Barilati who peacefully passed away at Dominican Hospital with her beloved family by her side.  She was 93.

Born in Santa Cruz to Italian immigrants Giacomo Stagnaro and Natalina Castagnola. Jeanne attended Laurel Elementary School, Mission Hill Middle School and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1948.

Jeanne was well known and respected in the local banking community. She began her career as a teller in the note department for Santa Cruz County Bank in the early 50’s. She left the bank to raise her two children and returned to banking with Comerica Bank (successor bank to Santa Cruz County Bank) with a career that spanned over 25 years.

Jeanne met her future husband, Scotts Valley native, Joseph Barilati while working at the bank. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage together until his death in 2012.

She was a long time committee chairperson for the Santa Cruz High School Alumni Scholarship Fund and, along with her husband, attended the numerous Marconi Club events through the years. Jeanne felt very blessed to have made the many friendships through those organizations.

She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Villa Maria Del Mar.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bill Dvorak; her son and Daughter-in-law Jeff and Dena Barilati; three grandchildren Lauren Young (Ryan), Isabella Barilati and Nicholas Barilati, and three great grandchildren, Grant, Leah and Madilyn Young. She is also survived by her twin brother Jack Stagnaro, along with many nieces, nephews and large extended family.

The Barilati family would like to thank Rosalie Becite who was Jeanne’s caregiver for the past 7 years. The love and tender care she provided allowed Jeanne to remain with us through these many years. Jeanne will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her beloved husband Joe, at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Santa Cruz. A kind act of charity can be made to Sisters of the Holy Names (2-1918 East Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz 95062) or favorite charity of your choice.
