Obituary of Luke Yiukai Liu

On October 15th 2023, Luke Yiukai Liu, 85, of Santa Cruz, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. 

Luke was born in 1938 in Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city in China. He was brought up alongside three younger siblings and had a happy and carefree childhood. After highschool, he studied hard and was admitted to Shanghai's Second Best Medical University. Upon graduating, Luke worked in the Oral Surgery department of Zhangzhou Regional Hospital and became an esteemed medical and dental professional. 

In 1964 Luke married the love of his life, Ruth Kuo. In the early 1980s, they immigrated to the United States and settled in Santa Cruz, California. From then on, they spent their whole lives together, working hard and making sacrifices, so they could build a beautiful home for their family. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling around the world, making many friends, and touching many hearts along the way. 

In his spare time, Luke liked baking banana bread, having tea time with family, decorating his house with plants, taking walks around his neighborhood, and admiring nature. He was always curious and keeping up with new technologies. He also loved going out to eat with his beloved granddaughter and grandson-in-law.

Services will be held at 10 AM on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 at Pacific Gardens Chapel. A burial will follow at 12 PM at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
